Campaign | Spring-Summer 2023

Les simples: cross story of dream gardens between India and Picardy.

In the Middle Ages, the square of "simples" was the part of the vegetable garden devoted to the cultivation of plants with dyeing and medicinal properties, as well as fruits and vegetables. Like an open dialogue between the fabric and the landscape, the simple square becomes a textile square in this Moismont Spring-Summer collection, praising the fruits, plants and other elements of this dream garden. Between two cultures, this imaginary garden takes root in the Moismont estate in Picardy, and blends the floral scents of an Indian garden on the plains of Jaipur. The colorful range crosses two stories of gardens, interpreting the palette of the jam maker: cooked and gelled colors of strawberry, cherry and quince, punctuated by the freshness of purplish blues evoking the glassware of jars and the writing of dates on the lid. almost rusty. The Indian floating garden is dressed in Ganges blue and other pools. Marigold orange punctuates the pinkish ocher colors of the walls of a temple in Jaipur. The weavings interpret the squares of the tea towels placed around the pantry. The checkerboard of the lid of the jar then becomes a neckerchief. The apple pattern weaves in the form of light jamdani. The prints, inspired by pears, cherries, strawberries, invite us to pick scarves like ripe fruit from a tree.
